The Vundo virus has been a consistent problem for many over and over again on the internet for over 5 years now. It is one of the most annoying computer viruses due to the fact of its slow takeover of your system, as the longer that the Trojan horse lives in your system the harder it is to remove and the slower your computer will get.

The win32/adware.virtumonde virus is another name for the Trojan horse that gets into your operating system through Java. Java is still ok on your computer so don’t delete it, but the w32 vundo will attatch to your BHO and DLL files. After this has happened the virus will be much harder to remove as so many objects are running in the background of your computer that you don’t even know about, they will cause havoc eventually. All of this technical jargon just means that after this Trojan really has a hold of your system you will probably need help to delete it, unless you have a really good knowledge of computers’ operating functions.

How can you tell for sure that you have some variation of vundo?

The only 100% way to tell what computer virus you have is either running a scan with a antivirus computer program that alerts you of the problem, I use Spyware Doctor by PC Tools, or by finding the files on your computer somewhere deep within the registry. Usually a program like Norton or McAfee will alert you that the virus has infected your computer to some extent, but then it will try and remove it and usually fail.

If your windows alert in the bottom right hand corner of your screen is popping up that your computer is infected and tells you to click on the icon to fix it, your system has been hijacked in most cases and the pop up is a file of the virus trying to get you to download more and more spyware.

Your computer is very slow considering how new or fast it is for no reason is a good sign that there are some Trojan viruses at work.

Pop-ups are the biggest sign, either full screens or ads that you don’t click on will begin to pop up over and over again.

So Now that you think you have win32 vundo, or some other variation how do you delete it for good?

If you are not very good with computers, it will most likely be impossible or very time consuming for you to remove the virus yourself or for free. Sorry I know that stings but it is the plain truth. I have found that Spyware Doctor By PC Tools is by far the best in the business at both removing an installed vundo virus, and also at stopping many future infections in their tracks. I do use Spyware Doctor myself and have removed vundo, virutmonde, zlob, adware.agent, antivirus 360, and other from my computer quickly and easily. If you are on the internet a lot and you need your computer, a good spyware/antivirus program is very necessary for keeping your computer out of harm’s way.
