My laptop got infected with Virus Win32:Adware-gen. [Adw]. pLZ HELP.?

I am using firefox and avast. I found in infected files and chest folders in avast, this virus details was mentioned. I think I am not able to play any video in WMP from some site. When I tried to troubleshoot it said, the sound card might have been corrupted. This virus has damaged it. What shd I DO? How to get back ..
