How can i remove spyware or Adware, that most cannot remove?

Everytime I do a search no matter what it is the same stuff comes up first such as “top 10 credit cards” and etc,,, I know I have something as my ad-aware keeps removing some of my index.dat files. I have tried ccleaner, norton 360, Mcafee, ad-aware and although each finds something, I can’t seem to get rid of this thing. Any other ideas…None of these come up with anything other than my index.dat files.
