My internet connection speed is very slow. I regularly run spyware checks. What particularly slows it down?
Does the amount of programs I have stored (but not running) and the amount of files etc I have stored contribute to this slowness. Is it the broadband supplier to blame, I use three different browsers (not all at once !) they’re all slow. Anything I can do to speed it up. It’s just slowed down in the past two months.
It could be any number of things. But look for programs that connect to the internet may be conflicting with your internet. It could be your anti-virus software, the web protection could be causing it. I just fixed my brother computer. The Internet was really slow. checked everything. Finally I uninstall the Dell support tools. There where two in add and remove programs. Took them both off and his internet was fast again. Don’t know why they started to cause a problem but they did. The answer above me is right, Power cycle your modem and router if you have one. Unplug modem, then router. Leave them unpluged for 30 seconds, Then plug in modem wait till the light come on. Then router, wait till light come on. Then go online. If you only have a modem, just do the modem. Try the power cycle before you do anything else.
