Runescape is safe, no viruses / spyware / Adware?
I am interested in playing Runescape, but I was wondering if you have to download something for her like most MMORPGs, and if so has anyone ever had something bad on their computer from it?
The game itself is not bad. But make sure you ONLY play on www.runescape.com – NEVER download anything for her. Read all the rules, there are a lot of it does not use-party software. If you download something for her to give you an advantage (as a bot) or access your account on another website, then chances are you'll end up with some sort of virus. Do not be afraid. I played for years and I've never had a problem.

Steal This Computer Book 4.0: What They Won’t Tell You About the Internet $23.99 If ever a book on cyberculture wore a fedora and trench coat and leaned against a lamppost on a foggy street, this is the one. It is an unabashed look at the dark side of the Net–the stuff many other books gloss over. It’s hard-edged, wisecracking, and often quite cynical as it pours over the reality of online scams, illegal activities, and simple annoyances. Wang’s stated goal is to open … |

Excerpt: 180SearchAssistant is an adware program that displays pop-ups based on a user’s browsing habits. It has been claimed the product presents ads under some circumstances and that it contacts its maker’s site without user permission, leading to it being classified as spyware by some third parties. The 180SearchAssistant now more often comes under the name Zango . Zango was normally bound to the not-as-effective spyware in the 180-family, called 180 Solutions. Like much spyware of this type, Zango claims to be nothing more than a tool for helping one search the Internet. According to the manufacturer, 180search Assistant is no longer distributed.
