Is it more time-consuming to run multiple anti-spyware scanners at the same time vs running them 1 at a time?

I usually just start up Symantec AV, Ad-aware, Spybot, and Malwarebytes and run them all at the same time to cure infected PC’s.

However, a co-worker pointed out that it may be faster to run them one at a time instead. Another pointed out that they may conflict and fight with each other, leading to inaccurate and delayed scans.

Anyone have a clue as to if there is a difference between multiple, parallel scans versus doing scans one at a time in terms of time to complete scan and accuracy?

Thank you for your time.

Run them one at a time. By running all at once they each will have to compete for memory and CPU speed. This might cause your computer to lag and even freeze which is not good for a PC it can mess up the OS, just as how they are competing for the memory and CPU speed they are also competing to see who can scan the files first however if that file is already being scanned by one anti-virus software the others might ignore it and simply store an error message in there logs or it might cause your system to become unstable. As you know each anti-virus is different from the other, they each have there own definition’s for the viruses, so its better to allow them to scan and remove threats one at a time so that if one of them misses a virus another one will have a chance to detect it, rather than launching them all at once and having them compete for scanning rights.I recommend that you use at least one anti-virus.
