Can spyware & Trojans actually infect cellphones?

I asked this question because I always make a USB Cable Connection between my notebook and my Nokia N76 cellphone to transfer songs and wallpapers from my notebook to my Nokia N76 cellphone. I really don’t know if spyware & Trojans can infect my Nokia N76 cellphone trough the USB Cable Connection process. But, if they can really travel trough, will they infect my Nokia N76 cellphone as well? Please. I really need your help.

I know that cell phones can get viruses, but I think they have to be specifically modified FOR cell phones. I don’t think any random virus on your computer could infect your phone. I found an article that explains it better than I can. Read on: http://www.slate.com/id/2113909/
