can i install a spyware remover with an antivirus already loaded?

i have an antivirus installed but i dont think its that effective so i was thinking to download a spyware remover n a registry cleaner from cnet. but i m afraid if it would cause my hard disk to crash……..coz they say having 2 antivirus will cause ur hard disk to crash, should i proceed or not??????

It is not advisable to have more than one antivirus application because they may interfere with one another giving false alerts. However, you can install a separate antispyware program.
