Spyware Help! Please!?
My XP laptop has some kind of spyware loaded on it that I am having trouble removing. The spyware has removed the windows control panel from load for all users except Administrator (in Safe Mode). Even at the Administrator level, it will not allow me to access the add/remove programs functionality.
Other symptoms include a pop up window entitled “Windows Security Alert” coming up stating :
“Warning! Potential Spyware Operation!
Your computer is making unauthorized copies of your system and internet files. Run full scan now to prevent an unathorised access to your files.Click YES to download spyware remover …
The misspelling of the 2nd unathorised is how this message actually appears. I have tried running spybot S&D but this message still appears.
Any ideas of what I can do to repair this and get the control panel functioning again?
Thanks for any help.
