buy or fix my own notebook/laptop?

i got a notebook 3 years old (its warranty is over already). i think there’s somthing wrong about its system maybe affected by virus and spyware or something.. therefore, its hard to tell wat’s wrong since i can’t make it portable as it will shut down itself if it is moved. so i can not move it or shake it as it wiil turn off where as the power plug and screw, hardware all are tight and ok.
so, i’m thinking of is it worth to buy another one or try to fix my own notebook. i’m afraid that the cost of fixing is more or less than buying the new one which includes 3 years warranty.

If it’s virus or spyware then re-installing the OS would be the best thing to do (and those things aren’t covered under warranties anyway).

Although if it’s a hardware fault then buying a new laptop probably is a good idea (since laptops tend to be very expensive to fix outside of warranty). If moving it is causing the problem then it’s probably hardware (loose connection most likely).
