I do not have the money to buy a spyware, malware, virus remover software. ?

Is there a program that can do much more than scan, I mean remove the menacing spyware program? All these free softwares only scan, then prompt you to pay. The menacing crest that flashes on the taskbar is frustrating, I need to get it off totally. Someone out there please help!
