spyware macs
How can I tell if my Mac has Ad-ware, Spyware, etc?

I love my iBook G4, and I would just DIE if anything ever happened to it! :) When I first got it, I downloaded a lot of stuff and I e-mail too.

So if I had spyware or anything like that on my Mac, how would I know? And how could I remove it? There are so many sites out there saying they can remove it and I don’t know who to trust!

There are no known MacOs X viruses which are released. The only “bad” items out there are 4 trojans which are disguised as “free” Mac software. They are a fake poker game, a fake porn viewer, a fake anti-virus, and a fake spyware/Adware remover. As long as you don’t download them, agree to install them, and put in your admin password, you have nothing to worry about. Just make sure your pop-up ad blocker is enabled in Safari & or Firefox. Don’t trust any “free” software from unknown sources. You can’t catch anything on a Mac by just visiting a website.
