Computer Problems?
Ok recently I have had problems with spyware and viruses on my computer. A family friend, who is very good with computers and does it for a living, said he’ll re-build the computer so that everything will be wiped out.
Before he does this, i needed to saved everything that i needed (school work, music, ect.) onto CD’s. I did that. The only this is that when i went to check if everything was on it, the documents were in Read Only and i could save anything.
I wanted to know how I can save, for example, a word document if i changed something and wanted to save it if it was in Read Only mode. Or if there was a way i could take it out of Read Only mode.

Your friend should be able to fix your computer without wiping it out. A good tech can repair most malware or virus issues. A good tech also knows when trying to fix would take too much time. In that case, if your “tech friend” does it for a living, have him boot up your machine, do a files and settings transfer wizard and save the file it creates to the documents and settings folder. Then, take out the old drive, put in a spare drive that your “tech friend” should have on hand, reload the os, put your old drive back in, and then do a file and setting transfer wizard to bring your data back. When you are sure that you have all the data you need, your “tech friend” can then ghost the fresh load onto your old drive.
