Who would sign a petition to lobby against companies being able to put spyware and Adware in their sites?
It’s what causes all the pop-ups you get when you get online; they’re little programs that keep track of everything you do and everywhere you go online, then that information is used by compainies so they know what pop-up ad’s to send you and can lead to getting more spyware and adware getting on your hard drive. They can also cause computer/internet crashes and slow your computer down drastically. Adware/Spyware should be considered the same thing as an invasion of privacy; that information is used against you so that companies know what pop-up advertisements to send you and will make your internet experience worse. So… who’s with me?
If I get enough support behind this, I may give it a shot in court to make it illegal (at least in the United States) for companies to use pop-up’s to advertise online.
Me too! I would definitely sign something like this. I have four different spy-ware detectors on my computer and the stuff still gets in. Things should only be on your computer because you asked for them, not because you were unfortunate enough to visit a bad website.
