What program can I get to help fix my registry and keep malicious things out like spyware and such?

Even with my computer unplugged from the 2-wire unit itself it seems that I have more and more problems. I now have icons on my desk top that I know for a fact were not there when I logged off and shut down. My e-mail is not getting to its destination but not coming back and people who send me e-mail get theirs returned sometimes.Not always..What can I get or do about this problem!. I am not a computer person. So, the cheapest and easiest way for me would be a great help. I have a site that I am trying to promote but how can I if I have all of these problems and am worried that people’s orders aren’t getting to me.Since I haven’t had any. Any ideas?
