Is Adware the exact same as spyware?

If I am using spyware detection and removal software, would this automaticaly apply to adware as well or do I need something else?

It is essentially the same.

However, spyware programs will sometimes “miss” adware. The reason is because when you install certain “free” programs you click the “accept” button on the license agreement. This gives the software (and all its baggage) permission to be installed. So, some spyware programs miss adware. Not all, some will grab it, but some miss.

The best for this is a free program called Adaware. We use it in my business and we find it is the best at getting both Spyware AND Adware.
