Is there an Internet Virus Repository made available to the public and developers (actual virus examples)?

I would like to know if anyone archives all the internet worms malware spyware (not only the definitions but the actual examples and code). I know this database would be huge, but someone should do it and it should be open source. If it already exists, please let me know.

It’s a bad idea to give out viruses to the masses. It would give people ideas on how to make new ones and release thousands more into the public.
