How effective is Windows Defender as a standalone anti-spyware? I hear its 1 of the best ones you can have.?

i saw the replys- Spyware Doc sux it costs $$$, SUPERAntispyware i actually tried and its very very good, Spyware S&D is a heavy duty remover and perhaps the best

I would rate it as a bit above mediocre as an on-demand scanner. It’s strong point is that it is one of the very few “free” anti-spyware apps that has real-time protection. It is very worthwhile to have for that feature alone.
