What is DameWare mini remote control? Why did my employer install it on my work computer?

Is it some sort of spyware or keylogger? Is it a way for them to monitor my computer activity?

It’s primarily so the desktop technicians can log in remotely to your PC and diagnose any problems. There’s an indicator in the system tray when someone is logged in with Dameware and I believe it does ask your permission. Keep in mind that it is the employer’s right to track usage of their property, if they so choose. I advise keeping your activity strictly work related, if you have concerns.
