I accidentally just got a lot of spyware/ Adware on my computer?
Spyware, adware, virus, I don’t know what it is but a few minutes ago I went to coolbuddy.com which was a big mistake cuz it’s obviously more full of viruses than I thought, and since then it changed my desktop background to a banner advertising a spyware cleaner and took the option to change my background away from the control panel, put actual spyware cleaner software on my computer which I did not download myself, and twice, an animation of bugs have come walking across the screen and started litterally “eating” away the window I had up. I know that sounds strange, but that’s exactly what happened. Please help me, I obviously just screwed my computer up pretty bad.
I have Windows XP 2000. I’m running AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 now, hopefully it will help
It sounds like a screensaver jokeware. There are a few free programs you can install from the internet that would help. But getting rid of spyware, adware or trojans can be a little tricky. I am good at it, but the last one took me a few days to get rid of all of it. I was running my computer unprotected and went to the wrong site and got hit.
If you have XP, you could try doing a system restore to a point before the problem.
You can install Ad-Aware, Avaste anti-virus, Spybot S&D and run those free programs and maybe you will get it all. Avaste has a free online trojan checker you can run too.
If not fixable, depending on how much stuff is on your computer, you might consider reinstalling Windows XP (my favorite) or Vista. It might be faster to do than repairing.
Keep these programs on your computer and be carefull where you go. LinkScanner Lite and Cookie Wall are also helpful to have running.
You can Google the above programs to find them.
