How can I get my desktop background back? I have no picture just a blue screen with a spyware warning message?
the message says: Warning: Spyware threat has been detected on your pc. Your computer has several fatal errors due to spyware activity it is strongly recommended to install a antispyware software to close all security vulnerablities. Antispyware software helps protect ur pc against spyware & other security threats.
I already did a Norton antivirus full scan & no viruses, whenever I change my desktop picture it comes on 2 minutes later it goes back to the blue screen with spyware warning message. My picture is there but it’s blocked from some reason Can somebody help me with this problem?
Thank u!!
Okay.
You DO in fact have a spyware problem, but whatever you do, DO NOT install whatever this thing is that it wants you to install. DO NOT.
Now.
You need to start with some diagnosis.
Open Internet Explorer, (not firefox in this case)
do a google image search for something you like
navigate to a web page that has an image you like.
right click the image as choose “set as desktop background”
minimize IE, and see if the image took as your desktop. Pretty good chance it did not.
If it did, reboot your computer, and see if your new image is still there. My guess is no.
You also probably won’t be able to right click your desktop either.
Time to download and run the holy Triad
Spybot S+D from www.safer-networking.org
Lavasoft Adaware from www.lavasoft.com
and Ccleaner from www.ccleaner.com
do ccleaner last, what you are looking for is the registry cleaning part. Run it three times in a row, AFTER you do a full deep scan with the Spybot and Adaware
You also at this point need to do an update and deep scan with whatever Anti-virus you use. I like AVG 8.0, but it does use some system resources.
After the whole High Colonic treatment, you need to invoke the powers of msconfig. Here’s what you do and how you do it.
START >> Run >> type the word “msconfig” (no quotes) in the box.
You should get a window with some tabs. You are not concerned with any but the last two. “Services” and “Startup”
First click the Services tab.
Next, and get this right. You need to click the “Hide All Microsoft Processes” button, and make sure it has a tick mark in it. Then you need to look at the remaining list, and figure out what of the remaining processes is your anti-virus. For AVG 8 the processes are called AVG 8 email scanner, and AVG 8 watchdog.
Once you have it figured out which processes are your anti-virus, click the “disable all” button.
Now go back and re-check the boxes next to your anti-virus, so that they are enabled.
You are done in the “Services” tab.
Click on the “Startup” tab up top.
This one is easy.
Disable all of it, every last single scrap of everything that is in the startup tab.
Hit the Apply button on the lower right.
Chill out because it may take a second, and then you should get a dialogue box about restarting.
Yes, you want to restart.
The Desktop really REALLY should be back at this point, and your computer should be running about twice as fast.
Some things may be goofy like icons for a while while the indexes rebuild themselves, but everything will work just fine.
