How do I find out if my Dad put some Spyware on my computer?
My dad let me borrow my step-moms computer, however I believe he installed some kind of spy ware and is going to be able to see all the sites I went to. I have videos that I transfered from my phone of me and my girlfriend, if you know what I mean, and pics on this computer, I really dont want anyone, especially them, seeing that, cuz I know my dad, not so much my step-mom, would have a field day! How can i find out if there is some type of stealth “spy” software installed?
First of all, it is not your computer, so you do not have the admin rights on it. That precludes you from storing any files on it that can be hidden from other users. You can try to encrypt the files so that they can only be opened with a password that you know and supply, but the administrator of the computer supersedes this, and can gain access to your files.
This is for the computers safety. What if your files contain Mal-Ware, or Trojans?
Your father or anyone for that matter does not need to install anything on your computer to see what sites you have been visiting. You can erase your browsing history so that it will not show up, but that does not take care of files, or pictures that you have installed.
You need to password protect your files in a briefcase or folder that you create for yourself and this should keep out most prying eyes, but the admin of the computer can gain access, if they really want to.
