Save Your Friends From Blockchecker
There are some programs that people download for free, and these programs are often packaged with adware. One of these programs is called BlockChecker, and the malicious adware program that is packaged with it has the same name. But though it is adware, it won’t do what you think it might.
Most adware gets installed on your computer and harasses you with pop up ads or may change your home page. Most adware programs are content to be installed where they are and that is that. But BlockChecker is much different than your typical adware program.
BlockChecker is packaged with a program that promises to tell you who has blocked you on your MSN instant messenger, and it also works with both Yahoo and AOL instant messenger. Then, instead of giving you pop up ads, it works through your instant messenger to try to get all the people on your friends list to download it too. BlockChecker sends them messages, in your name, claiming that you know who has blocked you and giving a website where people can go to download the same program.
This is the sort of thing that could actually make people block you. If you can imagine all of your friends getting pop up messages advertising something so strange, how do you think they’d react? They may not be upset if they like the idea. But once they download BlockChecker and realize that it is malicious, they may be upset.
If you have been infected and are being questioned by your friends as to why you are sending those weird messages, then you need help. You need to find a solution to BlockChecker and its malignant mission.
You need to find an anti-spyware program that can handle the task at hand. But I would advise being wary of free anti-spyware programs because free programs usually have more spyware bundled with them. Instead, find a quality anti-spyware program that you can buy which guarantees complete spyware removal. Anything less than 100% isn’t the right amount of protection.
