spyware guard 2008 Leaves You Unguarded
It’s an unfortunate fact on the Internet that people try to rip other people off. There are many ways this is done, but my focus is going to be on corrupt security tools like Spyware Guard 2008. These things are a virtual blight on the virtual world.
Spyware Guard 2008 is just like any other corrupt security program. They infect your computer with spyware and try to make you pay them ostensibly to get rid of it, but they don’t. You’re infected before you know it, and things can only get worse from there unless you know what’s going on.
The first thing to know about Spyware Guard 2008 is how you catch it. The normal means of transmission ultimately amount to accidentally downloading the Trojan Zlob. This downloads the rest of the spyware bundle. This usually happens at corrupt websites and in infected downloads.
The problem here is that there is no sure way of identifying what’s infected with Spyware Guard 2008 or its ilk and what isn’t. No way, that is, that doesn’t involve your own, already installed, antispyware program. If you wind up on one of these sites, it’s sleeping on the job and should be replaced—preferably by something that has a 100% removal guarantee.
You see, the websites that Spyware Guard 2008 and friends hide on aren’t meant to be obvious. Though most of them are adult oriented in nature, that isn’t always the case. More often than not, it’s when you’re looking for free videos or pirated material that you get in trouble. Of course, there are uninfected sites out there that offer free videos. Then there’s the fact that Spyware Guard 2008, along with all the others, has its own sales website where you can get infected.
Pirating electronic media has always been a risky business. It may seem harmless to some people to get a free movie, but the fact of the matter is that it’s illegal. It’s a crime on the federal level. Besides that, you will just never know if you’re downloading your favorite movie or something like Spyware Guard 2008.
Once you catch Spyware Guard 2008, it goes down the same way as with any other corrupt program. You will be told that you have an infection, and there will be a scan in progress to “prove” it. You will be told that you need to buy the full version to clean up this infection. You will be redirected to one of many pages that the program is hosted on. Then you’ll be held there until you buy it or find some way out of it.
If you buy it, you’re just wasting money. Spyware Guard 2008 doesn’t work as an antispyware program. The asking price is also twice what you would pay for a real antispyware program. You’ve also opened yourself up to Identity Theft. They could literally take all of your money.
The best thing to do now is to close your browser, using ctrl-alt-del if you have to. If it’s a really a bad infection, turn your computer off. Then, get yourself a real antispyware program. Don’t shop for the best, shop for 100% removal guarantees.
