How do I get rid of spyware bubble and popups?

I’m getting an icon on my taskbar by the clock, it’s a yield sign with an exclamation mark that says “System Alert: Malware Threats.” I also randomly get popups leading me to spyware sites that I know are just more viruses or spyware.

Those could be caused by either a smitfraud or a vundo (virtumonde) variant. While Superantispyware is effective in remove *many* variants of both smitfraud and vundo, the tools of choice are the smitfraudfix (run in safe mode) and vundofix.

It wouldn’t hurt anything to run both, doesn’t take any extra time and just remove them when done. Also I would suggest running Superantispyware after to remove any other malware that may have gotten in.
