WinAntivirusVista-XP is a Dangerous Fake
Too often people don’t take the time to verify the authenticity of a program until it is too late. WinAntivirusVista-XP is a rogue antispyware program designed to piggy-back on Microsoft’s good name and prey on trusting users who think that it is a legitimate tool designed to remove malware from their Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. WinAntivirusVista-XP is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, just waiting to pounce.
Users are most commonly infected by WinAntivirusVista-XP when they visit infected websites, although it can also weasel its way onto your system by means of a Trojan program that is busily downloading malicious software onto your computer without your knowledge. Once it is on your computer, WinAntivirusVista-XP will begin a series of pop-up barrages warning you that it has found imminent threats on your computer and that you must take action immediately in order to avoid complete system failure.
Of course, the threats that it claims to have found are entirely fabricated, and the action it is urging you to take involves downloading the full version of WinAntivirusVista-XP. If you were to listen to its urgings and buy the full version, you would be fifty dollars down with nothing to show for it except a new flurry of pop-ups containing new, fake lists of threats that you need to pay more money to remove.
In the midst of all of these threatening pop ups, WinAntivirusVista-XP is also staying connected to the Internet without your knowledge so that it can download its partner programs onto your computer. It also redirects your browser when you are trying to search for something online and stays running at all times in the background, hogging your computer’s processing speed and Internet bandwidth.
What is sad is that many people continue to fall prey to the tricks of programs like WinAntivirusVista-XP because they really are in computer trouble, and they really do need a legitimate program to help them. Malicious software developers know this, and they play on people’s fears of computer failure and having to wipe their hard drive.
If you are currently dealing with a WinAntivirusVista-XP infection, it is important that you take steps to remove it immediately. The longer that it stays on your computer, the more damaging and annoying it becomes. If you have not yet had to deal with the likes of WinAntivirusVista-XP, it is important that you take steps to ensure that you don’t ever have to.
WinAntivirusVista-XP can be removed manually, but doing so runs the risk of damaging critical system files due to mistakenly deleting the wrong one. It can also be tricky because WinAntivirusVista-XP intentionally embeds files so that they are difficult to find, and if you miss anything on your quest for destruction, it will simply reinstall itself upon reboot. Plus, even if you were to successfully remove WinAntivirusVista-XP, you would still be vulnerable to future threats that would force you to retrace your steps all over again.
A better solution is to find a legitimate antispyware solution that will provide up to date service and guarantee removal of 100% of all spyware that tries to get onto your system. There are good programs that fit the bill out there, and with a bit of research, you’ll never need to worry about the likes of WinAntivirusVista-XP again.
