Do Mac users need to have spyware protection?

The don’t need virus protection but maybe spyware. It seems like they’d still pickup adwares from web sites unless Safari has a spyware protection built in.

OS X has a built in firewall.

OS X does not permit the casual running of programs downloaded from the internet.

Safari has built in protection to warn you that you have downloaded a program.

for a spyware program to infect OS X, it would have to be downloaded, OK’ed by the user, and run.

that being said, there could be a virus or spyware program that could infect. but it would only infect the people foolish enough to run it.
