Is the Digsby program spyware?

My friend uses Digsby so he can run his AIM and two Yahoo IM accounts at the same time with one program, however I’ve been reading on many sites, that Digsby is spyware? Some sites said that the whole thing is spyware, and others said that, its just the toolbars, and other things they ask for install during Digsby’s Setup, not the actual program. Who is correct?
