Secureexpertcleaner is one of many deceptive programs on the internet called corrupt security software. These programs lurk on the internet and pounce on unsuspecting users. Unless you’re a seasoned veteran, you may not know immediately that you’re under attack. Rogue programs like this will pretend that they’re antispyware programs, and then demand an arm and a leg for their second-rate antispyware program. They often don’t just settle for the asking price, either. They could steal your identity.

The programmers of these programs like to make sure their bases are covered. They don’t limit themselves to one way of transmission. They use two means:  infected websites and infected downloads.

The download transmissions often happen to would-be Internet pirates. They more often than not happen at peer to peer (P2P) file sharing sites and when downloading pirated software and media. Aside from the chance of infection by rogue antispyware programs, there are many other hazards associated with Internet piracy. First, and most importantly, it’s illegal. There is a very real risk of the FBI showing up at your door if you do this. Secondly, risks of malware infection have always been a part of illegally getting software. Viruses, worms and Trojans have always been a problem with downloading ill-gotten software. Taking risks is exciting until you get bitten.

The infected websites are less justifiable than the infected downloads. Sure, many of the infected sites are pornographic in nature. Getting medications online has its risks apart from website infection. However, for every rogue antispyware out there, there is a home page. This serves a dual purpose. The first is that once a person is infected by another means, they get redirected to the home page. The second is that it’s there to target people who are searching for new antispyware programs. They attack the innocent as well as the arguably corrupt.

However the infection occurs, it always starts with a pop up telling the user that they’re infected. The pop up will often count “infected files” at high speed to give a sense of urgency. They’ll never say that you’re not infected, and you will always have temporary files for them to use to scare you.

The next thing they’ll do is tell you that if you pay anywhere from fifty to eighty dollars for their “full version,” they can clean up your infected files. Since they’re counting your temporary files as infected files, I’ll just tell you now that your computer is equipped to get rid of these files, free of charge. You do need an antispyware program to clean the actual problem up, though.

However, you don’t want to buy this one. For one thing, it’s over priced. For another, the software isn’t good for cleaning spyware, just for downloading it. Lastly, if they get your credit card number, there’s nothing stopping them from taking all of the money out of your account.

You ostensibly have the right to say “No” to their offer, but they’re not going away that easily. In fact, you’re being held hostage. Before you even think of saying “Yes” just to get out, there is another way out. Turn off your computer’s power and buy a real antispyware program.
