Computer experts: How can I know for sure if someone has put some sort of spyware on my computer?

For example, I suspect my husband spies on my email from his account. To avoid this, I don’t check from my personal computer. One night online I saw some sort of software designed for this purpose. It works like a vcr. All that’s required is to log in to your email account, hit some key strokes, and it begins to playback like a video tape, everything that was recorded from the time you logged on.

That type of software is a key-stroke logger. In other words, it records what you type in. It doesn’t “read” your email. He would have to log into your email account to do that. If you think he’s doing that, change your password and don’t tell him. If you think there’s a keystroke logger installed, take a look at the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and see if there’s anything there you don’t recognize. If so, google it to find out what it is, and uninstall it if you don’t like what you see.
