What does anyone know about cell phone spyware?

It seems someone is possibly forwarding my calls and viewing my text messages. How is this done without access to my cell phone? If someone has access to your cell phone are they able to forward calls and text messages to their cell phone or computer? This is creepy can someone help me understand what is going on? Thank you.
