AVG ANTI VIRUS – error message database outdated?

i have avg anti virus..sometimes it stops automatically and sometimes its fine,now it says under the avg components overview,it says anti spyware and antivirus database is outdated,when i clikc on it,it doesnt give me any option to update and infact i also updated my laptop on the left side link but it still showing in red…what to do??i have XP

Quite a few people are having this problem at the moment and it’s one (of several) that seem to crop up with AVG. As others have said, I’d uninstall it and use Avast. The free version is very similar to the pay-for version and updates automatically, you just need to run scans manually, which means clicking on the ‘Scan’ button. Very good protection against viruses, spyware, etc.
