Anti Virus – self activate – any freeware?

So far I know all anti virus are activated during startup.
Are there any Anti Virus which are activated upon request only? Just like Ad Adware SE (Leversoft)..activate upon
request.

AVG is a free anti-virus software, and a highly recommended one. You can, of course, self activate it, however, why would you want to? You can download AVG at www.Grisoft.com Great program, very effective…I use it as well as Norton.
