I need a free virus/adware/spyware/anything scanner that actually works!?

I downloaded U-torrent recently & that night my computer started going slow so I deleted it. But now my computer is going even slower, and its not a registry problem or “temporary” internet/computer history problem (because I clean those regularly). So the only thing I can think of is a Virus problem. I have Norton antivirus/internet security, but its not picking anything up.
