Is “TaxAct” free tax prep software for real, or is it full of spyware etc?

I read about the software in an answer to someone else’s question about tax prep. I’m wondering whether is good, legitimate software or some sort of scam/spyware/Adware.

yes, it’s a free program with no spyware. (in the online version they ask you repeatedly to buy the state version and other add-ons but just answer no) You should still review the questions and compare the return with last year’s tax return.
