Adware, spyware removal?

I keep trying to find a free spyware and adware remover that will work with Windows 98. all those that are free i just pull free scan and then want you to buy the program to solve the problems it finds. Is that a Freeones I can download that works with 98. things like icons in the Quick Launch bar to keep away. I probably have been told of problems spyware and I Nedd to correct this. also, how do you recover lost items quickluanch as desktop icon view. requested that part of this question before, but none of the answers I received worked.

Windows 98 is safer than Microsoft officially ended support. It is an easy target for hackers and I strongly advise not to use Windows 98 for any bank / personal information purposes. No single anti-spyware application is perfect so I recommend using Ad-Aware and Spybot (they are free). Other anti-spyware programs be AVG Anti-Spyware (formerly Ewido) Super Anti-spyware and SpywareBlaster. I highly recommend using Firefox is better and far safer alternative to Internet Explorer. If you add-on McAfee SiteAdvisor warns you of potentially dangerous sites. I also recommend CCleaner which is a free system optimization and privacy tool. Webroot Spy Sweeper is considered the best, but it is not free (see the source of Consumer Research). The implementation of these programs in Safe Mode failure (tap F8 after turning on the computer and choose to boot in safe mode) can be more effective.
