Removing viruses with Ad-Aware takes away my internet, and when I restart, I can’t do anything.?

I recently did a full system scan, and removed things I knew were definite viruses: Zango, Virtualbouncer, win.32.trojan.downloader, adware.dae, and downloadware. However, after I removed them, my internet died and I couldn’t open any of my programs. After I restarted, my screen was entirely blank except for my background. I couldn’t open the start menu, I had no icons on my desktop, nothing. I had to start up my computer in safe mode and use system restore to get everything back. Can someone help me?

If you go back to system restore you also restore viruses. It may also be viruses from the previous restore point. Do shut down restore points when you do a antivirus removal. I noticed sometimes using antispyware may also render your PC less than optimal because they may also remove the necessary files for certain programs. Most of the viruses/malware write to important system files so their removal also makes the Pc quite unstable. The best way to go around this is to use your windows cd and reinstall the operating system. If you have been heavily infected, some of the viruses are buried too deep down in the registry to make removal difficult. I would suggest that you start saving your vital documents, avoid saving programs as they can be reinstalled later. I spent the whole day on one of my friends PC that was hopelessly infected and all the antivirus and malware removal tools could not get it back. The easiest way is to reformat the whole thing. Gather all your motherboard drivers, video card drivers, ISP settings ready before you proceed to reformat. Also, ensure you have up to date antivirus software when you reload windows, do a full windows update and SP2 patches.
