The best spyware removal for my comp. problems?

I have been having problems with a fake pop-up saying “You have a security problem”. Doing some research I found that Spy-Hunter is what I should use to get rid of it. However I also have the XP Anti-virus “Protection” which is actually a virus, and I know because I had this problem on my old computer.
What I’m wondering is: can the Spy-Hunter remove both these? Or should I get a better spyware removal? Any suggestions?
