Malware on Macbook? How do I check for spyware?
So I was just browsing the Internet using Firefox and I got this popup:
The first pop up screen:
Notice: if your computer has been running slower than normal, it may be infected with Viruses, Adware or Sypware.
MalwareAlarm will perform a quick and completely free scan of your system for malicious programs.

I didn’t know what to do and it scanned for “viruses” but then I closed it and did not do any repairs. I honestly have no idea what this was. How can I check my computer to see if it’s clean? I am new to Mac and did not even know that this is an issue. Are there programs you can run to clean your system or at least check and see if anything got on it?
I posted this on the Mac Forums but no one has been any help thus far.
SecureMac has introduced a free Trojan Detection Tool for Mac OS X. It’s available here:

MacScan and ClamXav are also both built for Mac to detect, isolate and remove any trojan horses, spyware, and other programs that could effect your computer. MacScan can be downloaded for a free 30 day demo, and ClamXav is free. ClamXav is an application you may want to keep to ensure you don’t send a PeeCee friend any mailware. I like ClamXav, yet the Leopard version is still in Beta (untested)
