Is SpyBot: Terminator useful?

OK, well i have had the infamous Antivirus Pro 2009 Ad-Ware infection since November 6. The computer i am using is fine, its my laptop that’s infected. My friend received the same virus and use SpyBot Terminator. He said it worked fine. He has a more advanced computer, as my laptop is an old Dell Latitude C400. It’s quite old. If you don’t know what it is, it is a free anti-spyware program. I would like to know if it would get rid of this annoying infection? Is it reliable? thanks.
I would also like to know, is Spybot: S&D free?

Never used it. But I am sure it is ok.

Here at work, I use Ad-Aware 2009. It works well. For the “problem child” computers we use HiJack then Spybot S&D.

If they are just hosed, they get a fresh image.

Other than a fresh install start here…

Delete temp files and cookies. (or leave it for the spyware cleaners to remove.)

Start scanning for spyware.

You may want to run these, remove the bugs, reboot and run them again till the cleaners come back with no results.
